Their story.
Preston's independent record shop since 1981, and Independent Retailer of the Year 2026
Action Records has been on Church Street since 1981, after starting life as a second-hand vinyl stall on a Blackpool market. Owner Gordon Gibson has run it ever since.
It's packed with new and second-hand vinyl and CDs across every genre, plus gig tickets and in-store events. Muse once played an early show here to about 30 people, and the shop ran its own label for years, releasing records by The Boo Radleys and The Fall.
In 2026 it was named Independent Retailer of the Year at Preston's High Street Heroes awards, with Gordon also picking up Retail Manager of the Year, Customer Service Legend and Outstanding Achievement.
